NBSC PROMOTES SUSTAINABLE CHANGE WITH SUCCESSFUL FIRST PHASE OF #NENE INITIATIVE
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) marked a significant milestone as its Pag-amuma Ginhawa Initiatives, working in close coordination with Barangay Damilag, Bukidnon, completed the For Her Program of the “Nene Initiative.” Serving as the opening phase of the broader #Nene Initiative and following the earlier success of the GRIPP Initiative, this two-day program—held on November 15–16, 2025, at the Bamboo Pavilion—gathered young mothers and pregnant teenagers aged 13 to 19 for structured, developmentally-appropriate learning experiences.
The accomplishment marked the launch of a long-term, whole-community approach to strengthen family systems and support informed generational planning. Through the “For Her Program,” participants gained evidence-based knowledge essential to self-determination and sustainable health outcomes, engaging with modules on maternal and infant healthcare, informed family planning and decision-making, effective communication, active listening, the legal rights of women and children, and the responsibilities of partners/fathers.
The implementation was facilitated through strong multisectoral collaboration. NBSC Pag-amuma Ginhawa Initiatives extends recognition to the clinical personnel from the Barangay Damilag Health Center—specifically the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Nurses, and Midwives—and the Philippine National Police (PNP), all of whom delivered the core curriculum. Deep gratitude is extended to Hon. Kag. Cris Floren and the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), and Hon. SK Chair Janus Mata and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) for their unwavering support as PGX Focals and community-building partners, and in championing with us innovative and impactful solutions to critical and priority needs of the community.
With the “#Nene Initiative” laying the groundwork, preparation is underway for the upcoming “For Him Initiative,” an effort designed to engage fathers and partners in shared parental responsibility. The framework is also set to broaden the following year with a series of developmentally-appropriate programs—For Kids, For Boys, For Girls, and For Parents—each oriented toward strengthening protective factors, developing practical life skills, and helping young people navigate decisions that shape their transition into adulthood within the wider community ecology.
The successful implementation of the “Nene Initiative” establishes a scalable model for sustained capacity building in Damilag. It also reinforces NBSC’s position as a dynamic and forward-moving institution, driving transformative, community-centered work that showcases its mission, vision, and core values.
